i had been with my boyfriend a few months when i had a "preventative" double mastectomy. they found a 6cm tumour during surgery. he planned the whole wedding in 4 weeks so we could fight it as husband and wife. its been 14 years. we have a 3 year old miracle daughter and ive just had my ovaries removed as further risk prevention. hes still here and supports me through all of it x🥰

She was a brave woman then and now. She survived brain cancer also. God bless all women who fight for the right to do with their bodies as their Spirit says. 💜

For a little bit I was concerned my dad passed on the BRCA1 gene to me, so I was kinda freaking out a little bit about all the cancers my family has had. The guy I was dating at the time looked at me and dedas said “well it’s not like it’s going to affect me” (that’s also how I found out he was planning on breaking up with me since we started dating)

My now husband had been my boyfriend of only 10 months when I had a mastectomy 10 years ago. There was never a doubt in his mind and that is why he is a keeper

this is so foreign to me bc my dad was right there with my mama when she got her double mastectomy. he was with her until the end of her life. they may have fought but he never once left her side.

That’s so sad honestly I know my grandma had breast cancer and had to get her breasts cut out fully so I guess a mastectomy? And her husband( my grandpa) still loved her until he passed away two years ago. He was a good husband to her compared to her last based off what I know 🫶🏻 it’s crazy how men nowadays tweak out over a lady getting breast reductions or due to cancer they needed to do surgery to remove them. Women are not here to satisfy you nor do they need to listen to you it get your permission to change their body however they want. Even your own husband. Especially when it soemthing serious and could kill your wife you should be supporting her not blowing a gasket over losing sex appeal when in the first place breasts shouldnt even be sexualized.

one of my mum's best friends just died after her breast cancer returned 10+ years later. if she had a double mastectomy the first time she'd probably be still here.. 😢

Before my mums mastectomy, I remember listening to the doctors talk to my parents about their ‘new’ sex life (I know awkward idk why the hell I wasn’t removed from the room) and the only thing my dad said was ‘are we seriously talking about this? My wife has cancer and I’d like all the focus to be on that’. He was quite disgusted it was even a topic brought up but it’s such a common question before the surgery that it was now standard.

My mom was worried about this. My dad reassured her every step of the way. She ended up losing one breast and every reproductive organ. All of her hair through chemo. He told her how much he loved her and how much it didn’t matter to him bc she was still beautiful and he loved her. I hate to congratulate a fish for swimming and I know that’s bare minimum but I’m really glad that was during my formative years. I chose a man who has cared deeply for me through every hardship. I’m glad that’s the example my daughter is seeing.

same thing happened with my mom…. she got a double mastectomy and got implants but they caused infection so she got them removed and my dad joked the entire time about not being “able to grab anything anymore”

The birth lottery really did me a solid one by dropping me off in an era and country where marriage is optional and getting less important every day. I'm not putting up with that stuff

I got my preventative double mastectomy at 26 and got engaged to my now husband in between my first surgery and my reconstruction (implants). The doctor said he's never seen anyone ever get engaged through the process. He's only ever seen divorces.

My Aunt had hers removed, she lived another 21 years. I respect that decision from any woman willing to put her body thru that type of preventative medical procedure.
