Because the goal isn't to be debt-free as fast as possible. The goal is to become wealthy as efficiently as possible. Sometimes that means paying debt down aggressively. Sometimes it means lowering the interest rate first. Sometimes it means increasing your income. Sometimes it means investing while paying down debt at the same time.
