Another way I see it is pizza and people. The 5/8 would be bigger since the slices are going to be bigger versus having to now make thinner slices with 4/12.

Oh that's cool because in my head I made the base equal (24) to then figure out which was larger 5/8= 15/24 and 4/12= 8/24

Benchmarking to 1/2 is such an underrated strategy — it helps kids reason about fraction size instead of just memorizing rules. Anchor charts like this make it stick.
