As a queer person, I love this story which you told so well I cried. I’d like to add my own quick anecdote. My mom was a barber during this time and many of her peers wouldn’t serve openly gay customers, but not my mom she stood by her clients. These men became some of my favorite uncles and taught me a lot about love and empathy. Happy Pride! Protect the Dolls!! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🤟✌️💪

as a lesbian myself I had no idea about this part of our history. I knew about the aids epidemic but I didnt know it was lesbians who cared for them or that the L didn't always come first so thank you for educating not only your little one but me and anyone else who may not have been aware too! ❤️
