@travismayo: Corpus Hermeticum — an ancient text written nearly two thousand years ago described how the mind constructs reality in a way modern neuroscience is only beginning to formalize. The Hermetic tradition called it the veil. Science calls it predictive coding. Both are pointing at the same thing. This one will follow you home. #TravisMayo #learning #philosophy #ancientwisdom #perception
Guys… just look at what’s been happening lately. Stuff people laughed at a few years ago is now right in front of us. I read the book The Obscured Game by Lorian Slate and it honestly helped me see what’s actually going on behind the scenes.

Buddhism has a very similar belief, if you change your thoughts, you change your life, it’s not as simple as it sounds. It’s the hardest thing and sometimes impossible to do because if your lived one way based on your environment and what you’ve been taught and haven’t lived in another experience, it’s hard to change all the biases that you believe to be true. 🥰🥰🥰

The mind doesn't participate in constructing the reality that one may experience. Let me show you how it happens. From birth the mind is almost blank due no experience. Then just like a blank CPU that gets programmed by a programmer the CPU executes the programming, but not all programming because not all CPU's are programmed the same way, or with the same capabilities. Each experience programs the brain with specific information unique to that experience. No two boxers have the same experience in the ring, but they box. So they view boxing through the lens of their experience provided to them by their brain, just like a CPU only what is in it!!

What is bending my mind is that science is revealing that the atoms that cmpose me are interacting with atoms that comprise all things I come in contact with. Absorbing, releasing, trading, mass at levels we cant fully know yet. " show me your friends and Ill show you your future " has a hidden truth the author never could have imagined.

The lens is looking at itself. The predictive brain sees what it wants to see, was told to see, was experienced to see. Instead the Veil is the invitation to change the lens.

Would this be a good example?
You are sitting in a car that is stopped at a traffic light or in a parking lot. Suddenly, the car parked right next to you starts rolling backward slowly.
In that split second, your brain notices the movement to the side but makes the false assumption that your own car is actually moving forward.

love this....I just discovered the Upanishads. It blows my mind how many aspects of what we now call quantum mechanics or certain elements of string theory were seemingly discussed in these ancient texts.... what are the statistical possibilities??? I remind myself of this every existential crisis where I convince myself when we die our lights just extinguish..... amazing content; thank you ❤️

So true by changing your filter, your lens, perspective then you construct a reality that you participate in, you unlock the veil, but what is truly the world- reality if our minds filters it.

By fostering psychology flexibility and the detachment from the illusions of the material mind, ACT mirrors the Hermetic pursuit of aligning ones life with the Logos through the cultivation of a higher, observant consciousness. I am a firm proponent in everyone learning ACT.
