I follow NY Nay.. think she’s funny and enjoy her content but I wasn’t drawn to that bag when I saw it then I thought it was a joke when I heard the cost 😳. IMO anything above $50 for it is a reach. I would have loved for her to succeed with it but the price & product aesthetic not going together for me. Some supported and that’s fine too. Hopefully she will learn, regroup and bounce back from this.

It’s a great question. I remember attending a talk with Chef Carla Hall and she said that her cookbook didn’t sell and she was on tv every day. Her next cookbook after that was her best selling book and it had nothing to do with her exposure but because it was so authentically her that it hit a cord with people. Social media is for awareness, your listserv and credibility sells the product.

I think people conflate support with it being all or nothing. I can enjoy you here in one space and not in another. I like Nay. The bag is not for me without elaborating ( people also think feedback is hate) people are draining.

Price point always matters. If her price point was on par with her audience she wouldn’t have had these issues. That price cut off a lot of ppl who would have supported her.

I broke down and got a Woods by Jordyn large beach tote bag. Reasonably priced and I’m a plus sized woman with big arms & I wanted a shoulder bag. I’m so excited about this bag. I’d definitely buy your 1st book off the strength. But if it’s bad…. You’re on the list 😂😂😂😂😂😂

I don’t think you will have any problems with your book, but I get it. I feel Nay’s problem is she either doesn’t know her following or did a price analysis of similar bags. If all her followers were upper middle class, then $400 makes sense. I would have looked at Telfars pricing for the medium and large shoppers and based my pricing off that.
