from my experience, COLORS. ARE. IMPORTANT. you don't have to give a character the perfect color palette but typically theming your character's color palette around something similar to their personality does wonders whether it be a emotion, object, or anything else. also don't be afraid to stray away from a few select colors, go crazy and don't forget to use things like brightness or saturation when you're trying to use the same color over and over again

If your oc is human, give them something unique that sets them apart, such as unusually shaped earrings, distinctive hair colors, or a particular style of clothing—anything that will make them stand out.

Silhouette can mean alot. Especially for an ensemble cast of characters. Take a look at my characters, for instance. shapes and body types can make or break a designs. You want people to know who they’re looking at with all the major details shadowed out.
