@mattypowz.md: Which is cancer? 👀 🔍 Case 1: Basal cell carcinoma vs dermatofibroma A small pink basal cell carcinoma can easily resemble a dermatofibroma, a common benign lesion that often shows a characteristic dimpling sign when squeezed. Dermoscopy is often the key to identifying subtle clues that aren’t visible to the naked eye. 🔍 Case 2: Basal cell carcinoma vs intradermal nevus Some basal cell carcinomas are not pink, pearly, or ulcerated. They may appear as a subtle skin colored bump, looking very similar to a benign intradermal nevus. Dermoscopy can help reveal non melanocytic features that point toward the correct diagnosis. 🔍 Case 3: Lentigo maligna vs solar lentigo Both can present as irregular brown patches on sun exposed skin. While lentigo maligna often appears more asymmetric and structurally disorganized, the differences can sometimes be surprisingly subtle. 🔍 This is why regular skin examinations play such an important role in skin cancer detection. Some lesions are straightforward. Others require a much closer look. 🖤 *Educational content only.
