Honestly, guys, I'm going to start Maas-commenting this on TikTok because I'd genuinely love to hear other people's perspectives. This isn't meant as hate or criticism—I honestly want to understand if I'm missing something. After finishing A Court of Thorns and Roses and reading Throne of Glass, I'm actually hesitant to start Crescent City because I've noticed what feels like a recurring pattern. Sarah J. Maas creates these incredibly powerful female protagonists—Feyre, Nesta, Elain, and Aelin Ashryver Galathynius—and then it feels like their stories slowly move away from that power. Feyre becomes High Lady, but then her story seems to shift toward motherhood and painting. Nesta is built up with unimaginable Cauldron power, only to sacrifice most of it. And Aelin, after everything she survives, ends up with barely enough magic to light a fire. I guess I'm wondering... why does it feel like so many of these women end their journeys with less than they started with? Is losing their power supposed to represent a happy ending? Am I looking at it the wrong way? I'd genuinely love to hear how other readers interpret this, because I feel like I must be missing something.
