I feel like both Ian & Sarah are somewhat pseudo villains. Everyone besides Nikki is extremely selfish and they establish it rather quickly with her giving the person outside the bar money. Which makes it feel like selfishness is one of the major themes, or rather selfishness is the cause of Nikki losing her autonomy

Thank you! Same with Sarah, Niki never had any real friends, Ian never actually cared about her, bear didn’t care about her, and Sarah never cared either not once did she reach out to niki to try and help her like a friend would, she went and tried to “steal” bear from her instead. The willow reveiled that Niki didn’t have one person in her friend group that actually cared about her or her well being they all wanted something from her

i feel like calling Nikki "possessed" gives people too much leeway. She wasn't possessed, she was conscious and acting against her will via magic. something evil wasn't possessing her, she was acting the way Bear wants her to via magic

not to mention when bear gives him the one wish willow. instead of making the wish to free Nikki, he instead selfishly wishes for a billion dollars. even though he didnt believe the one wish willow worked, if he knew it was real he would have made the same wish. he doesnt care about Nikki. he only cares about himself.

Ian does "call out" Bear at one point but... that's it. just one little point where he's like "this is weird dude" and then literally nothing else. that one moment doesn't make up for all the other bullshit he does. Ian doesn't actually care about Nikki
