what's hard with teaching (specifically at a private music studio) is every teacher has their group of students and classes, and if one is out the others are already teaching and can't cover, and because I teach the whole week, if I miss or take off any days, no one can cover for me except my boss, and most families don't want a different teacher for private lessons, and she can't afford to have someone on call for classes she can't cover. it leads to a LOT of guilt taking any time off outside of the predetermined dates we're closed.

My experience was the reverse of this my entire corporate career from 2013 until 2023 until I started a new corporate job and my new boss has been just like this. Just him know and it's approved. I even had an emergency mid day and he was like just go and talk to me about it later. Take care of yourself.
