@saint: Charles began working as an illustrator in 1994. He fulfilled a childhood dream with his first nationally published work - the cover painting for Conan and the Mists of Doom published by Tor Books. This was quickly followed by many more book covers for Tor, Del Rey, and Baen Books. He won Best in Show at the 2000 World Fantasy Convention in Corpus Christi, Texas with the painting “Held by Honor.” He received a Judge’s Choice Award at the 1998 World Con Art Show and has been twice nominated for a Chesley Award. As a youth, Charles was strongly influenced by the writings of Edgar Rice Burroughs and Robert E. Howard. Years of martial arts training, fencing and modern dance have given him an understanding of physical activity that greatly enhances his work at the drawing board. In January 1997 Charles appeared fighting with live steel in Discovery Channel’s “Deadly Duels: Duels of Chivalry” with internationally recognized edged-weapons expert Hank Reinhardt. Trained at the National Academy of Design and the Art Students League of New York, he lives in Atlanta with his wife Heather.
