@ti_butterfly: just something I’ve been wanting to touch on. i hope I don’t sound pick me or something that isn’t ever my intention, im just sharing my experience in recovery and hoping others will understand where im coming from. During my addiction the lowest I weighed was 115 lbs and im 5”9. that is extremely underweight for my height and I don’t exactly miss being THAT skinny, but I have gained more weight than I wanted to. I know diet and exercise can balance this out and that’s something I’ve been working on since I got sober but the rapid weight gain was a lot for me. Coming from someone who had an eating disorder and body dysmorphia for a long time, it feels similar to that. I know I can’t be the only one who struggles with this. I wish there was more conversation around this topic and it wasn’t so rare to hear about. if you know any other creators who have mentioned this, please tag them in the comments as I would love to hear their opinions as well! #sobriety #addiction #recovery #WeDoRecover #addict

This is really great, thank you for making this. It’s so true… I never really consciously recognized the role. My body dysmorphia played in my addiction. and after recovery it’s quite the experienc integrating back into normal life isn’t it?

you are so beautiful. I know first hand not feeling like it in the body you were given but try not to let the negative take over. such an inspiration and never stop making your videos. they're always helping more than you think for those that are afraid to come forward. 🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️

i used to be the fat kid growing up, i lost over 80lbs during addiction. within those 12 years, being thin was the only thing i was happy about. i wore all the cute outfits i always wanted to and took the time to get dressed up, do my hair and makeup. i gained weight within my last jail stay and unlike every other time, have not quickly dropped the weight before. my drug use went down but I'm heavily drinking and eating regularly which isn't doing anything good for me weight wise. even if there isn't drugs or alcohol, i begin to abuse food and over eat. i keep having the idea of just using again so i can lose the weight quick by not eating and fit my entire wardrobe again. I'm in sweats or basketball shorts and big t shirt everyday now. don't see the point of making myself look nice cause of it. i tried on stuff that's in my size but i cry about how disgusting my body looks. ik i should eat healthy, probably eat a lot less and get moving but i really struggle to get out of bed and go to work as it is. idk this might sound crazier but i felt happier then than now.

I get obsessed with getting fit and healthy as a compensation to the damage I did to my brain I think? I gained so much getting clean it sucks but I'm swimming and lifting everyday tryna get back to my pfp

it sucks. it sucks so much. when i was in active addiction I was my lowest weight and even tho i was depressed because I know I was doing bad what made me think it was worth it was that I was skinny. now im sober and I hate my body.

thank you so much for bringing this up!! This is absolutely a major issue after recovering and can DEFINITELY rear it's ugly head into a possibility of relapse.. definitely needs to be treated along with other mental health issues ♥️♥️
