Hi. 👋🏼 Ex floor director/master control engineer here, who's spouse works for NOAA. Mark Rober is 💯 incorrect... the national weather service issues nationwide weather reports based on airport readings, satellite data and past weather records to make educated predictions. Local meteorologists do the exact same thing, HOWEVER, they have the added benefit of knowing their area better and being able to go outside. 🙃 If their weather forecast differs from that of the national weather service, it's because they've reviewed the data, stepped outside, researched historical weather reports, and are able to better gauge a more accurate forecast. 😇 In no way do ratings change based on incorrect forecasts. Now, if a local meteorologist makes SEVERAL mistakes and consistently gets the forecast wrong, to the point where viewers contact the tv station and complain, then the station "might" replace said Meteorologist. But that's a worse case scenario and very rare. 🥰😇 The more you know 🌈

bro you just had to bring up gender ok look at this (why is the meteorologist is always wrong) first of all that sounds awful not catchy at all and what procent of people you think know what meteorologist mean compare that to how many know what weatherman means and btw he said weatherman then show a man who was he suppose to show if he had said meteorologist

also. the NWS have more than one weather model. Mark just doesn't understand how weather modelling works 😅 the problem is that commercial weather forecasts (not necessarily the local TV weather stations) base their forecast on the GFS model. which is a low resolution model, that can run pretty fast and doesn't take up much processing power, so it can be offered for free 😊 So the commerical apps use this model. and the GFS is just also notoriously bad at precipitation. especially for local areas. That's the main problem here 🤷♀️

“The Weatherman is Always Wrong” used to just be a badly overused joke people said when they didn’t hear the weather on a particular day. I do that sometimes where I’m like “I don’t remember there being rain in the forecast!” Knowing full well I probably hadn’t even checked the forecast in like a month 😂😂😂
