She wasn’t supposed to survive this. She wouldn’t have. Peyton and I were just trying to get horses moved out and into quarantine when we heard it. At first I thought it was a cow. It didn’t sound right… so we went to check. It was her. In the middle of labor. Completely exhausted. As we stayed with her while she pushed, it was then that we saw it. The red bag. Something neither of us had ever seen in real life, only heard about. We both knew instantly this was bad. Really bad. We called two vets and had them on FaceTime, trying to walk us through what to do. We did everything we could. Every contraction, trying to reposition the baby. Nothing was working. She was too weak. The baby was stuck, and we were running out of time. Both vets told us the same thing… the baby likely wasn’t alive anymore. At that point, this stopped being about the baby. This became about saving her. We got her loaded and rushed her to Outlaw Vet Hospital. Three grown men had to pull that baby out of her. If that didn’t work… she would have gone into surgery. She would not have survived that. She shouldn’t be here right now. But she is. She fought through it. Her body held on. AND she made it. Peyton named her Easter… because that’s exactly what it felt like. A second chance that should not have happened. A true miracle. She is now safe in quarantine, gaining weight, recovering… and for the first time, she actually has a future. What’s even more crazy is she was already sold. She was already leaving with a group of donkeys heading out. Someone owned her. If they would have left that morning like they were supposed to, she never would have made that trip. This is what it means to be there in the moment. Right then… when it actually matters. It’s crazy the timing andthe path we are put on. I can’t thank YOU enough for being here, part of the ASIAB community, helping us pull off miracles like Easter, when it truly counts for them ❤️ #sanctuarylife #savinglives #emergencymedicine #vetbills #linkinbio
