The grief of one welcomes a home for another ❤️‍🩹 My cat Zion tragically passed away. He was severely traumatized as a kitten at the hand of humans. He was found shoved in a car exhaust pipe. I spent 4 years helping him, 4 years teaching him he was safe now. I became his safe person and the only human he trusted. Unfortunately, he was hit by a car... Tragically, he was left next to a walkway for over a week before I found him. People had seen him, people walked past him daily... and nobody alerted anyone to where his body was. Instead, they allowed him to decompose in plain sight, not even a metre away from the path they walked on. My poor boy had got himself as close to home as possible, he laid down in a place he could be found, and people just left him there. His body held on for as long as it could so I could identify him, my boy knew I'd come for him. I got someone to help me retrieve what we could of him. He died trying to get home, to get to me. He knew he wouldn't make it home, so he laid down where he could be found so I could bring him home. Humans failed him at the start of his life, and after his death. He knew, I was the only one who'd help him and that breaks my heart. He deserved so much better 😔 A day later, I saw a kitten who had a striking resemblance to my first ever cat Azalea. Her name, Azula. I read her story, and I felt as if I was reading Zions all over again. I couldn't help but think, I was supposed to help this kitten. I had only found Zion the day before, I questioned if it was too soon considering I couldn't stop crying over how mistreated he had been once again. But something was telling me Zions death was a chance for Azula to have the same chance I gave him. She's very skittish, she needs someone to work at her pace to make her comfortable. She needs the same level of love and attention I gave Zion. So, I requested to meet her. My intentions were to see if she was comfortable with me before I made a decision. I let her sniff my hand first, and she let me pat her right away. She let me pick her up and give her a cuddle. She was wary, but she was comfortable enough to let me near her. I went home, got everything I needed and adopted her the next morning. She's been here for a day and a half, but she already let's me cuddle her, pick her up, gives me kisses, has started playing with me, allows me to pat her while shes eating and let's me help her use the litterbox (she didn't wee for the first 24 hours). She hides when shes not with me, but it's clear she is supposed to be with me. If you've made it this far, thank you 🩷 I was so focused on helping Zion when I got him, that I didn't think about documenting his progression, but I wish I did because the change in him was incredible. He became unrecognizable from the terrified little kitten he was, he was still skittish, but his progress was the biggest reward I've ever witnessed 🏆 Azula is such a beautiful sweet girl, and I cannot wait to watch her grow and see her true personality shine 🩷 The grief of one welcomes a home for another ❤️‍🩹 #firstpost #catsoftiktok #PetsOfTikTok #petgrief #kittensoftiktok
