@drsermedmezher: “Many People My Age Can’t Jump” #wait. Sources- PMID 41843416 loloctay on TT Power training differs from traditional strength training by emphasizing the speed of movement alongside resistance, which is a crucial distinction for aging bodies. As people grow older, they naturally lose their fast-twitch muscle fibers, the cellular engines responsible for quick, explosive movements, much faster than they lose pure muscle strength. By performing exercises that focus on moving a weight rapidly, such as a quick sit-to-stand or a fast medicine ball chest press, older adults can actively preserve and recruit these vital fast-twitch fibers. This targeted training directly translates to improved functional capacity, making everyday tasks that require sudden bursts of effort, like standing up from a deep couch or quickly catching a heavy door, significantly easier to manage independently. Beyond making daily life easier, this rapid force generation is the exact biological mechanism required to prevent devastating falls. When an older person trips or loses their balance on an uneven surface, having strong leg muscles is simply not enough if those muscles cannot contract quickly. Preventing a fall requires the neuromuscular system to instantly fire and execute a rapid "recovery step" to catch the body's shifting center of gravity before it hits the ground. Power training directly conditions the brain and muscles to drastically reduce this reaction time, giving seniors the explosive speed necessary to plant a foot and stabilize themselves before a minor stumble turns into a serious injury. #exercise #Fitness #health

are there other physical abilities that some parents don't teach their children because they assume it's simply a reflex?

to be fair, she could barely jump either. Her technique was harming her legs a lot.
The knee-bend should be at the bottom of the jump, not the topp - unless you are trying to make a specific pose.
Landing with straight legs will harm your knees, have your knees slightly bent at inpact to have your thighs absorb the impact instead.

What can people who are young with mobility issues in the spine do? I’ve had spinal fusion but my lordosis remains and I also have a cervical curve. It looks like on scales have a good muscle mass, but my personal hypothesis is that my “muscles” are from compensation but they’re not functionally strong, so I have pain. I was told to slowly get into body weight exercises. How can I get into weights and power training if I was told that even as I get stronger, to stick to Pilates type exercises? All this advice online always scares/confuses me
