🔥 An intercessor is a watchman before God. An intercessor is like a spiritual watchman set upon the wall. God may burden the heart with concern for a leader, a family, a ministry, a city, or a soul before danger becomes visible. Scripture says, “I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent” Isaiah 62:6. The burden is not given for fear, control, or suspicion. It is given so the watchman may stand before God and pray before the enemy’s work fully appears. The Holy Spirit can alert a watchman in different ways. Sometimes peace suddenly lifts. Sometimes there is an unexplained urgency to pray. Sometimes a person, family, or place remains on the heart until it is carried before the Lord. These impressions must be tested by Scripture, humility, and the peace of God. Discernment is not a license to accuse. If God shows a weakness, a danger, or a burden concerning someone, the first assignment is prayer. A true watchman does not turn revelation into gossip. He carries it into the secret place. Intercession is one of the ways God teaches His people to stand in love against unseen battles. The shield of faith is not only lifted for ourselves, but also in prayer for others. “Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one” Ephesians 6:16. When the Spirit gives a burden, do not ignore it. Pray until peace comes. Stand until the weight lifts.
