I totally agree. I think just a tiny hint of intimacy would’ve kind of paid off a bit of the tragedy. It feels kind of like tragedy on tragedy for no reason to me. I still really liked it and cried my eyes out obv.

It was 💯 a romance. I don't know why viewers insist on seeing intimate scenes as the only proof of mutual love. They loved each other deeply, and for me, the ending was happy (under the circumstances) and the title says it all.

you eloquently deliver the feeling I had for this jdrama 😭 It really was the journey that is the main point here, and I was hoping (like every time I was something I truly love) that IF (keyword IF) they're doing the sequel to this, the end when you said "they're going to spend the time that Yohan's had left together" is the one they would do as the sequel. like, I would LOVE to see a queer joy (even tho, it is going to be sad at the end haha)

I wish queer stories that have a lot of tragedy don’t have to end tragically. I would take bittersweet or maybe happiness that wasn’t exactly what they wanted but was happy anyway. An example is the parents story in when life gives you tangerines.

Wow, this was actually one of my least favorite dramas I’ve seen this year. I binged it the day it came out and I although there were issues, I still really enjoyed it until the second to last episode. Personally, idc how they try and explain it, Johan leaving without a word (when he’s basically another parent), what they did to Sumiko and what they had her hide about Johan and then the ending ambiguously giving us ~they’ll be together~ literally threw every ounce of good will out the window for me. Like it’s one thing to have issues with a show if everything else is great but I didn’t like how they handled Arata and Ryu and honestly I find it tiring to have yet another tragic story for queer characters 💀
