The term “the righteous predecessors” (al-Salaf al-Ṣāliḥ) in Islam generally refers to the earliest generations of Muslims, who are regarded as the closest to the time of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The Followers (Tābiʿūn): Those who met the Companions, believed in the message brought by the Prophet ﷺ, but did not meet the Prophet himself. 3. The Followers of the Followers (Atbāʿ al-Tābiʿīn): The generation that learned Islam from the Tābiʿūn.
