To get the story. Clothing originated from necessity to keep oneself warm. Given, at that point it was just hide and fur but at the point where humans settled and some sort of hierarchy was established clothing was a show of status since it was very easy to be seen. And so clothing evolved alongside humans, always designed to mostly show status. Then there also are many religions which see nudity as some sort of blasphemy since even the thought of sex is sinful, this reinforcing the statement that everyone has to wear something for their modesty. And today it’s still mostly about status and modesty so over a thousand years of clothing tradition still stands today.
