@calmmoneycoach: How a Canadian Couple Retires on $500k Educational and not advice. One of many paths a Canadian couple, both 65, retiring on $500,000 and about $42,000 a year. Most people assume that isn't enough. Here is one combination that makes it work, start to finish. We count the floor they already own in CPP and OAS, convert part of the RRSP into a joint annuity to close the gap, then look at why the rest of the portfolio can hold more stocks than the textbook says, and how to draw it down. One couple, one combination. There are others. This is education, not advice. The full guides behind these videos are at calmmoneycoach.ca. The community is linked there too if you want to go deeper. #CanadianPersonalFinance #RetirementPlanning #CPP #OAS #RetireInCanada

K if we are 35 and have 350k invested equally between an RRSP and TFSA mostly in SP500 and balanced mutual funds and one day my husband is going to have a full teachers pension (in like 20+ years), can I quit my engineering job and live off just his salary, assuming just his salary will cover our expenses? We won’t be able to save and invest much money anymore but we could just let our 350k grow (we also have 500k home equity and zero debt other than cheap mortgage) and not touch it for the next 25 years. Would that be dumb to almost completely stop saving and investing at this point?

What do you think of leveraging with a low rate (4.45%) Line of credit to buy more XEQT? I'm currently doing 1.1x my whole portfolio with that line of credit

Can you not just turn what you need into rrif and leave the rest in the rrsp account to grow instead?

This will be my scenario, with the exception that we will be pulling cpp for one if us at 60. we will be selling our home for around 500k and we have a small cabin with 200$ a year taxes and is off grid.

Why not SCHD or VDY, great annual returns and a very good dividend that would give them about 20k per year on 500k

Can you run the same scenario but retiring at 60 with a 500000 from a house sell and about 50000 in RRSP if moving to Spain ?

This scenario is so realistic of many Canadians. I’m pleased to see your doing this. Not everyone has jobs making a 100k, with work pensions, etc…
