Authoritarian regimes that pursue eugenicist policies always do so by restricting choice. In Nazi Germany, it became a criminal offense to perform an abortion on a physically healthy “aryan” woman. Likewise, those who were deemed “undesirable” due to disability were forcibly sterilized or even killed during Action T4. To compare someone individually choosing to have an abortion to eugenics is asinine.

My husband and I had that convo before we even started trying for our baby and we both agreed we would put quality of life for the child before anything. My OB tests for that stuff at 10 weeks so luckily we’d get to make that choice sooner but regardless even if I found out around the same time they did I’d make the same choice they would.
