I signed up for the arbor society or whatever its called and its 10 dollars for 10 trees. and you can do that every year and they give you trees for your area.

also different but related topic, if you are planning on growing a food garden, check to see which libraries in your area have seed libraries, and get all your seeds for free.

You’re in a rural area.. see if anybody has got any old hay/straw bales they don’t want on your local community groups be surprised how many folks have a pile that got rained on or they left in the back of the shed and haven’t got around to moving it yet. Makes great mulch.

That's the smart way to do it! I just planted Calusia trees around my fence to replace it. 🙃. Mulch is also overrated - something else to avoid when mowing.

Check with a local tree service or utility company. They are always looking for a place to dump the chipped tree trimmings. Good mulch and great to start a compost pile.
