I just saw a video of someone saying that she will be as big as Taylor in a few years. I was like, no she won’t be. It is going to take someone many years to be as big as Taylor. Olivia is closer to Billie’s level of fame. People need to stop saying this and let the girl grow naturally in her career. I also think people struggle to see how big Taylor really is. Olivia is very talented but she has years to go to even prove she has longevity. Her fans are doing too much. We won’t see another Taylor level of fame for a long time, probably 15-20 years and who knows who it’ll be.

Even though I think Olivia is benefitting from the beef and thats why its still being pushed by her team, I actually think this hurts her in the long term. Most of the people who take Olivia's side in this beef are her die hard fans, haters of Taylor, and the casual audience, who see random headlines or videos about it on their algorithm. The casual audience, and haters of Taylor don't actually care about the music. Just the hits. Most of Olivia's fanbase, who she should be catering too, also like Taylor swift songs. Both write songs about love, breakups, and being a women using their lyricism as a forefront. Most of the swifties I know also like Olivia's songs. I think her team pushing this beef only alienates swifties, who are a much bigger fanbase, from enjoying Olivia because the media is pushing a Tay v. Olivia narrative. And the swifties will pick Taylor. Maybe this is too much of a generalization, but I still think there's truth to it. Love to both fanbases.

Olivia Rodrigo debuted with the image of being a die-hard Swiftie, even saying in interviews that she would be willing to die just to meet her. In one interview, she mentioned that the bridge of her song deja vu was inspired by Taylor’s Cruel Summer. To be honest, I personally don’t think the two songs sound that similar, so I’m not sure why she said that. But since she acknowledged it herself, it might have been part of maintaining her “hardcore Swiftie” image to attract Taylor’s massive fanbase. At the time, no one really criticized her for it, and swiftie s mostly saw it as a tribute. The turning point came when she gave gifts to Kim Kardashian as a gesture of goodwill. Swifties weren’t being unreasonable—if Taylor’s friends had contact with Kim, it wouldn’t be seen as a problem. But Olivia built her debut image around being a devoted Swiftie, and a large portion of her fanbase at that time supported her because of that connection. She had also made exaggerated statements in interviews about being willing to die to meet Taylor m. So Swiftie felt she was trying to benefit from both sides and being insincere. Her earlier statement about deja vu being inspired by Cruel Summer ended up backfiring on her. Unable to handle the accusations from Swiftie she ended up backing down unilaterally and adding songwriting credits.
