@432magazinemonde: #DRC 🇨🇩 Over 200 Rwanda-Backed M23 Rebels Surrender to Congolese Army in North Kivu More than 200 AFC-M23 fighters have surrendered to the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) in North Kivu over the past two months, according to military authorities cited by Radio Okapi. The surrenders took place in several conflict-affected areas, including Lubero, Rutshuru, Masisi, and Kalehe, where clashes between the Congolese army, Wazalendo fighters, and M23 rebels have intensified in recent months. Military spokesperson Major Dieudonné Kasereka said a total of 204 former M23 combatants voluntarily laid down their arms in April and May, adding that many were young men allegedly recruited into the rebellion. Authorities say arrangements have been made to receive and process the surrendered fighters.
