@danakowalski: The math is simply not mathing anymore, Susan 📉 Rent is a small kidney and a firm handshake isn't cutting it. #boomercomplaints #genzstruggles #costofliving #corporatetiktok #housingmarket
putting things into an inflation calculator usually shuts them up. it's not entirely accurate, as utilities and other things have changed in the last 100 years, but it's a good conversation starter / argument ender

Not to mention, college was affordable or free and didn’t leave you in massive amounts of debt. I’m already 25k deep in student loans and I’m just going into my sophomore year. I didn’t eat tonight because my roommate didn’t go grocery shopping when that’s the one thing I ask her to do! She doesn’t even pay rent!

I’m honestly shocked I can afford my apartment🤣 Granted I have 2 roommates and our parents support. One of the reasons I’m starting my own business.

In order to live by myself(thank fuck I don't) I'd have to make like $70ish per hour.
I make $26 per hour and that's not even enough for a studio apartment or a pay by the week motel in either of the states I have lived in/currently live in.

My aunt and I have this conversation and I’m literally had to break down how my government job was not able to cover the needs of myself and my child while putting her through daycare. In fact, I can’t put her through daycare at all because I do not make enough. I get paid through that one job barely enough to cover rent car insurance, gas, and utilities that does not cover food clothes for me clothes for my daughter. Anything else my daughter might need let’s that’s not even covering anything with basic childcare. She also had the nerve to tell me that it’s poor money management. I had to break down every single price point every single thing that I pay for she still didn’t believe me and asked why I have two full-time jobs at a part-time job.

My fiancé and I live in our van, both working. Along side his 65 year old dad. This economy kills us. It’s not laziness, it’s not money management. It’s how ridiculously sh!tty the economy is and how very little money gets anywhere.
