@girlaboutmelb: This is one of my favourite Indian restaurants in Melbourne. 🇮🇳 Kolkata Cricket Club is an Indian restaurant located at @crownmelbourne in Southbank. It recieved a hat in The Age Good Food Guide in 2026 and was also a finalist for New Restaurant of the Year! ⭐️ Led by Australian-Indian chef Mischa Tropp (Gourmet Traveller’s Best Young Talent) the venue blends traditional Bengali and pan-Indian cooking with a more modern approach. The fit out is inspired by India’s historic members clubs, with a dark, moody dining room and a more casual Sports Bar. Cooking centres around open flames and the tandoor. You can order a la carte or opt for the set menu ($95pp, with a vegetarian option available). We went with the latter! ⭐️ “Puchka” chickpeas, potato, tamarind water ⭐️ “Beetroot Chop” potato croquette, green mango kasundi ⭐️ “Tuna Jhal Muri” bluefin tuna, wild rice, curd - one of the most interesting dishes of the night. So textural, the curd flavour really stood out. Their take on a classic, not traditional but delicious. ✔️ “Matar Kulcha” curried peas, stracciatella, burnt green onion oil - a little oily but still really tasty. ✔️ Tandoori lamb loin chops, mint chutney - incredibly tender ✔️ Onion salad - sounds simple but impressive ✔️ Butter chicken - beautiful smoky flavour and perfectly cooked chicken. I would have loved the sauce slightly thicker. ✔️ “Kosha Mangsho” goat curry ✔️ Dahl makhani ✔️ Golden basmati rice ⭐️ Naan - made by dedicated tandoor chefs, soft, fluffy! ⭐️ Chena gulab jamun, housemade cheese dumpling, saffron syrup, soured cream - made fresh daily and the first gulab jamun I’ve properly enjoyed. I love that it doesn’t try to be strictly traditional or overly modern - it sits somewhere in the middle and does both really well. The set menu is a great option for variety, the portions are generous so its fantastic value you wont be hungry afterwards! We tried most of the cocktails, which matched the menu perfectly! They run Happy Hour Tues-Sun, 5-6pm, with $12 cocktails and $20 seekh kebabs. Invite
