Honestly, a lot of tenants are afraid to tell Landlord when something needs fixed because it usually means they’re going to raise the rent because they had to spend money. I know it’s not all landlords, but there are plenty of them to make you feel that way. So people just don’t say anything and keep paying the rent.

My last landlord did yard work himself, he would check in with everyone how things were going. Like yep all is fine; the shower handle is a little more loose than normal; the dryer sucks; etc. And then he’d work on those things. Unless something was broken that we needed we wouldn’t bother him, but him coming around to check in on how things were going he was able to do upkeep. A relationship with tenants is very important!!

i don't tell my landlord anything anymore I called years ago about my screen door needed fix they TOOK the screw door said I didn't need it😳I now have no screen door. ife been my here 15 years I just fix it my self they useless

Our last move out cost a lot. But we had given up on them doing the right thing. For a few years we reported issues and they refused to do anything. Eventually we stopped calling. We worked on our exit strategy.

Maintenance has always done more damage when I’ve submitted a work order. I was fully displaced for 2 months because my dishwasher went out, when they replaced it they broke a pipe and it flooded the entire back half of my home under the flooring. I had to be fully moved out with two kids into another unit but had to wait until one was ready. No urgency on their part.

That’s called risk. It’s on you to cover maintenance with the money you got from the tenant. No one forces landlords to invest in real estate.
