I work in a very touristy place and often see tourists putting themselves at risk. A lot of east asian tourists make themselves easy targets - having the latest phones out taking a lot of pictures and wearing designer accessories etc without an awareness of what is going on around them. I've heard that they are also more likely to be carrying cash too, which is a dream for a thief as it can't be traced.

As an American I don't know about Europeans attitude towards Asians, but I can say xenophobia is alive and well in the US 😭 It seems to be the socially tolerated racism 😡

Funfact: the vast majority of pickpockets in main European cities that attract tourists from all over the world, are gypsies of Romanian citizenship (however they are not ethnically Romanian, Romanians are European, Gypsies came 1000 years ago from northern India, more specifically from Punjab and Rajasthan regions). The pickpockets don't discriminate, they rob from those who usually are more distracted and appear to have more money. On the other hand, I lived 6 years in east/southeast Asia, and can say from my experience and account from many other people I've met, that the pickpockets in those regions target Westerners. Quite ironic, isn't it?

Ethnic Europeans don’t look down at anyone from Japan or South Korea. It’s the opposite. You are getting robbed by non Europeans.

From what I’ve seen on videos it is mainly Romani people and north Africans pickpocketing people not native Europeans.

Unfortunately, Japanese are considered an easy target because they come from a high trust society, so they don’t protect their belongings. I wish Japanese tourists in Europe safe vacationing!

Tbh it's bc Japanese people are seen as weak, no offense. Respectful but that's it. And respectful isn't going to stop someone from being racist or a criminal. My great-grandpa's family used to be racist towards them after Pearl Harbor. He'd spit at them and tell them they don't belong in America, and they just stood there and bowed 💀 Like stand up for yourself? Grow a spine?

Not by American white people! I think Asians work harder, have stronger values and make the most of what situation comes their way! They still value respect of elders and families. Americans have lost their way in gen A!
