he is absolutely correct. if a person who studies marketinf, finances and business doesn't know what's popular and what's trending, it's ridiculous he or she is srill in the game. they must be aware of what's going on around the world and what people enjoy, they must learn to tell if some trends have a potential or just a quick-lasting phenomenon to understand what the market and the world wants and to use it to their advantage. the professor is really great and he could see that bts was going to be an even bigger thing in the future, and they are. so that makes him a great professor, i hope these students understood this lesson and graduated as confident specialists

He really took the opportunity to introduce BTS to the crowd of teenagers who haven't known them yet and it's super cool of him without even knowing that these boys still continue to rule the K-pop industry 'til this day.

He's trying to show his students how you will fall behind in a global market in any industry if you're mind is only on American markets. BTS has been doing better than most American artists we all know & love but we hear nothing about it because they aren't "us." And if we do hear about Bangtan, it's pushed to the side as "cringey kpop" but they're doing better than Drake, Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Ariana Grande, & Bruno Mars COMBINED. You have to open yourself up to a wider lense of the world. Not just in music. But in art, fashion, food, film, and culture as a whole. Or else you will be left behind and not taken seriously. Why view the world through a tiny lense (only pay attention to your country and its markets) when they're so much more happening that you could learn about, enjoy, and bring into your life for possible revenue?
