@engineerevan: A builder and a fundi are often used interchangeably in Kenya, but in construction they are actually different in role, responsibility, and level of coordination. A builder is the overall person or company responsible for managing the entire construction process. They plan the work, interpret drawings, coordinate different trades like masonry, plumbing, electrical, and roofing, and ensure the project is completed according to design, budget, and timeline. A builder takes full responsibility for site organization, quality control, and sometimes even procurement and supervision of fundis. A fundi, on the other hand, is a skilled worker who performs a specific task on site. A fundi can be a mason, carpenter, steel fixer, tiler, or plumber. Their role is execution based on instructions given to them. They usually focus on one part of the work and depend on a supervisor or builder to guide the overall plan and ensure their work fits into the bigger project. In simple terms, a builder is like the conductor of an orchestra, while fundis are the individual musicians playing different instruments. When the builder is strong and well-organized, the fundis perform better and the project runs smoothly without costly mistakes or delays.#planbetterbuildbetter
