But, what truly made the Afro Argentine population practically disappear was European immigration in the 1800’s and 1900’s. Many of the remaining Afro Argentines diluted by intermarrying with European Argentines. And of course, there is still a very small minority of Afro Argentines. From the beginning of the 1800’s Cabo Verdeans and others have immigrated to Argentina. Since the 1980’ people have immigrated from Haiti, Angola, and other parts of Africa.
