Bounds Edward McKendree Bounds (1835–1913) was an American Methodist minister, attorney, Civil War chaplain, and devotional writer. His works on prayer, including The Weapon of Prayer and Power Through Prayer, helped shape generations of believers in the discipline of hidden intercession and the seriousness of prayer before God. Bounds wrote about prayer as a man who believed the needs of men must be carried before the throne of God. Prayer was never meant to end with the private concerns of the believer. The soul that truly draws near to God begins to feel the weight of others. This is where intercession is born.
