Don’t they change the locks? I thought that it was a requirement. When I worked in property management we changed the locks with every new move in.

Leasing consultant here, they are suppose to changed the locks and you should ask them when you moved in when was locks changed because of this very reason. You can request them to change the locks for security issues.

That’s common sense who moves into a new apartment and leave the same lock there I would never do that

Every place my parents or I have moved to, the first thing we have done as soon as we signed the paper and got our keys, is change the locks!

I don’t know about where you live, but here in New Jersey. They absolutely supposed to change deluxe every time a new tenant rents.

That's crazy, and I would have never thought of this. I think landlords after somebody moves out of an apartment. You should just change the locks regardless of them turning the keys in or not🤣😭

Right after we moved back into our townhome after a reno I made them change the locks. One morning someone was trying to get in and it was the Foreman of the contracting company. They were still working on the rest of the complex so he had no reason to be in my home.
