Need to break it to you but project Hail Mary actually is not fantastical, it is very obviously scientifically grounded. Ryan Gosling in fact does play a scientist in this movie. Not a fantasy hero.

You're absolutely right he doesnt visually express emotions especially with his face as you imply with first picture but that is absolutely part of his charm because he gets the message along with his acting instead for example his role in The Nice Guys, he was hilarious and goofy and loving all with a straight face and you can even look at lars and the real girl, a movie where he shows even less emotion but absolutely breaks hearts. In conclusion, you're absolutely right he doesnt visually express emotion on his face as you imply with the first picture but emotions are a body language not just facial and ryan gosling has perfected the body language.

I mean, whatever. It's an opinion. So I'm not saying you're "wrong" exactly. But I just don't see it as a big deal here. I watched it. And I liked it. In fact it's one of my favorite movies of the last 5 years at least. I thought his performance was perfectly believable, and it didn't need to be hightened, to match the story line or anything. And if anything, I thought the whole movie got better further in when his character was more just a person, and it moved away from the typical Ryan Gosling sarcastic comedy crap later in the movie.

I'm not here to talk about the rest of the stuff you said, you have the right to an opinion, but rocky didn't really create his atmosphere inside the ball. he's a mostly self contained system, the only real thing he used the atmosphere for is as a heat sink.

genuinely shocked to hear this opinion bc his facial acting is my favorite thing abt him as someone who also isn’t very expressive irl i like that i can clearly see what emotion he’s portraying without him making exaggerated faces that i don’t like in many actors. it’s more realistic plus if you actually take the time to understand his character you know immediately what he’s feeling in a moment without him having to say/show it and i think that’s what makes writing and acting stand above average to me
