🏦 Why Big Banks SUCK Why are big banks so completely useless. My name is Mat. I am a regular guy in my forties with a full time job and a family just trying to not retire broke. About four or five months ago my dad asked me to help him with my brother and sister’s inheritance. He had the money sitting in a checking account earning zero interest. He said “You’re the money guy. What am I supposed to do with this.” So I moved it into a brokerage account. Bought a couple of mutual funds. Set up a transfer on death so when he passed the money would go straight to my brother and sister. No probate. No courts. No drama. With compound growth the inheritance should have doubled or tripled over the next fifteen to twenty years. Unfortunately he passed away just a couple months later. And dealing with the bank has been a complete nightmare. My sister finally got her check after endless phone calls. My little brother is still waiting because the bank refuses to send anything FedEx. They are mailing checks for tens of thousands of dollars through regular mail. No tracking. No confirmation. No way to know if the check was lost stolen or delivered. The only way to find out is to wait and see if someone cashes it. This is exactly why part of my retirement plan is making sure my daughter never has to deal with this nonsense. When I pass I want everything seamless. No hoops. No panic. No dealing with banks that operate like it is nineteen eighty three. I am setting up a family trust this year and I want institutions that actually support that. I have had a decent experience with Capital One but I am always looking for better options. If you know a solid high yield savings account or a bank worth trusting leave a comment. I am genuinely interested.
