@sistahsinsoil: Year 2 asparagus update! 🌱 A lot of people think once the asparagus turns into ferns, that’s it for the season. But these ferns have been growing since early spring, feeding the crown underground and helping the plant store energy for future harvests. Now that it’s summer, I’m seeing new spears emerge, which is a great sign that the plant is healthy and getting stronger. Since it’s only Year 2, I’m letting most of the spears grow into ferns so I can have a bigger harvest next year. I also noticed some of the older ferns are starting to die back, which is completely normal. My plan is to move it into a larger container this fall to give those roots even more room to grow.
