@fadakevwecssr: Wonderful Words of Life: Sunday, 7th of June, 2026. The solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. 📜Deut. 8:2-3,14-16; Ps. 147:12-20; 1Cor 10:16-17; Jn 6:51-58 Theme: The Eucharist, our spiritual food and sustenance. “For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him." (Jn 6:55-56) Today, we celebrate one of the seven sacraments of the Church ordained by Jesus Christ. We celebrate the solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ in Latin, and it is known as _Corpus Christi ._ The Eucharist is the gift of Jesus to his disciples. Hence, the night, before he was about to die, in the upper room, Jesus took bread and wine, and he turned into his body and blood. Jesus instituted this sacrament of Eucharist so that he could perpetuate his presence sacramentally with us forever. At that last supper, Jesus commanded them that whenever they gathered to eat his body and drink his blood, they should do it in memory of him. Why? It is because the human person easily forgets. In those days, the Jewish people put it to God to remember them in their afflictions, but they forget God in the affluence. The Jewish people hold God to his word and promises as if his divine memory slips that makes him forget. Moses addressed in the first reading that the Israelites in the desert should not to forget the wonders of God. That is, out of nothingness the Lord fed them with manna from heaven. The second reading tells us that no matter whatever happens, the Eucharist should bring unity among believers because we share in one body of Christ. In the gospel, Jesus taught emphatically on the Eucharist, and some could not stomach it that Jesus wanted to give them his body and blood. Beloved, the Eucharist is the best gift of Jesus to his disciples and all Christians to remind us that Christ is very much present with us as he was in the beginning. The Eucharist is the sacrament of all sacraments, the summit and font of our faith. The Eucharist is the centre of our worship. We teach the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist under the appearances of bread and wine. There are many miracles of the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Through the Eucharist, God abides with us and we in him. And eternal life is our reward. Nothing should stop us from receiving at the banquet of God, bread of heaven, bread of life, food of angels, and the Eucharistic Jesus. The Eucharist is real and powerful. Whatever the impediment might be or sin, let us try to reconcile ourselves with God and partake in the heavenly banquet. Jesus wants to feed us and work with us through his body and blood. Many people may not relate, but we know that it is our strength and panacea to all our troubles. Lord, bread of heaven, feed us now and ever more. As we eat, the Eucharist heals us and feeds us.
