Well, the thing with the P-175, as with most multi-million dollar projects, is that it wasn’t just a project to make a UAV. It was thousands of experiments and smaller active projects crammed into one fuselage, with the largest part of the trials being integration. Systems were introduced, systems were tested, systems were scrapped in favor of others. The F-35 and Vectis would be nothing more than paperback copies of the F-22 without the Polecat project. All LM lost in the incident was some bonuses. What they learned from the project gave them a massive head-start in 6th gen fighter and UAV development.
