I’m a Temporary Foreign Worker from the Philippines, and that generalization doesn’t reflect my experience and my friends experiences here. I always knew my stay in Canada was temporary and never relied on an LMIA for permanent residency. While some LMIA practices may be questionable, it’s unfair to assume all TFWs share the same circumstances. If there are concerns about abuse, Canada should address and tighten or STOP the LMIA system rather than generalize all temp foreign workers!

I’ve applied for many of these jobs for local hotels , I was highly qualified for these positions and couldn’t get hired the job is still posted , it’s so shifty

It's the corporations that initially hire lobbyists to weaken employment laws like pay and job security, and then justify the use of TFWs. These issues existed under conservative governments, too, which are also responsible for abuse. To effectively address the problem, hold both political parties accountable instead of blaming one party to incite followers.

YUP!!!I’ve met so many young men who are in this position and struggling so hard not just financially but mentally and emotionally because there is SO MUCH riding on their shoulders and yes they DO literally PAY huge sums to come work here and for min wage jobs. And then they are stuck. And when they realize how screwed they are? It’s awful, it’s indentured servitude. It’s really exploitive.
