And it’s the fact that he never chased her. He let her realize in her own time and to me that’s incredibly special, not to mention it appears he stayed single his entire life even though there were (assumingly) many women that would swoon over him. Himmel’s love for Frieren is special and something rarely replicated

the thing that get me was, he only had 10 years together with frieren. and then he was left alone with that feeling for many many years to come until his last day when frieren finally met him for the last time. like can you imagine the longing, the wait, the yearning? yet himmel did not seek her. he let frieren came to him on her own terms. because he knew she will. to trust that small chance, i think that's why i relate to him the most

He knew it was futile with that version of Frieren. It took Frieren losing Himmel to realize what those feelings are. Himmel knew those feelings of Frieren but he never brought it up himself. Kind of Ironic how a measly 10 years adventure with someone will hunt her for the rest of her lives. I just can't imagine the yearning of Himmel during the rest of his life after the 10 year journey, wanting to see Frieren but can't even recieve a mail from her. But I'm also positive Hieter and Eisen kept communication with him, maybe visited each other from time to time.
