The worst part is if you don’t agree with their plan of care, you don’t have a say. It’s not like you can tell them, I’d just like a normal cleaning and fluoride treatment. They tell you that you need a $1200 treatment for your non existent gum disease. Now you’re out insurance coverage for that appointment, you pay for a second opinion where that office wants their own X-rays.

I suspected this was the case back when I was 16 and they told me I need to get my wisdom teeth out. I said why they aren’t bothering me, they said “uh well they could”, and I said yea well my spleen and gallbladder aren’t bothering me so should I get those taken out just because too? They had no answer. I’m 38 now, still have my wisdom teeth, they still aren’t bothering me

My insurance covers cleanings at 100%. Idk what they billed but my insurance EOB said I owe $133. Tell me why the dentist sent me a bill for $279. I’m not paying it. this is why I never go to the dentist. I feel like I’m being scammed.
