I wish you could have met and talked to my Grandpa. He was a POW in WWII. He didn’t talk about it until late in life but man he had stories, including D-Day.

My uncle was in his late 60’s when I stumbled on an album of all his letters sent home during WW2. Reading through them, I learned that he was one of the paratroopers who landed at Normandy. I was so proud and equally shocked. I asked him why he never told me he was there. He said there are some things in life that you don’t talk about and Normandy is one of them. When he passed, my heart burst to see one of his platoon brothers come to the funeral and pin his paratrooper pin on him. ❤️

My grandad was in the first wave & was the only one to survive in his company. He was the only one to survive in a company 3 times over during the war.

It was an Irish woman Maureen Flavin who provided the weather forecasts that identified both the storm and the window of opportunity. It’s a pity that she wasn’t included in the movie.
