The one neat thing about experiencing true cold is you will never complain about being cold again. . at our mine, one time, I had to drive a beat up old buggy out from the bottom to be decommissioned. It was -38 F out that day, and where the buggy was sat was around 80F. Took about an hour and a half to drive it out, up a steep grade. the ramp in was also the main air inlet, and so the closer I got to surface, the colder the air got. For the last 20 minutes or so, I was getting blasted by 50mph winds coming into the mine at 40 below, wearing nothing but a thin reflective jacket and some leather working gloves. I couldn't feel my hands, I could barely steer, my eyes froze open, blinking felt like, i can only describe it by saying "Peeling an eggshell off with my eyelids". I could barely walk when I parked it and hobbled inside, the 60-something degree air actually hurt to walk into.
