Alcohol markers are meant to be layered that’s why you get a dark patch when you color over them, acrylic markers are different tool meant for more opaque less nuanced artwork.

*alcohol marker vs acrylic marker. acrylic is not buildable, which you see as a plus, and others see as a negative. acrylic markers also take forever to dry while alcohol markers dry almost instantly. they're two completely different techniques.

There’s no such thing as “regular” markers. Different inks have different properties. Use the kind you need for best results.

try alcohol markers not water based markers. they also do well

First, the lines are expected of water based markers. Second, if it is alcohol marker, it is dry. It needs more ink to prevent the streaks. Three, you will not get the shadowing from an acrylic marker.
