The last member of the Prendergast family to own Ardfinnan (Admiral Robert Prendergast) was probably killed by serial killer doctor John Bodkin Adams in 1946. Don’t shed too many years though; the Prendergasts were bitter loyalists who made life for locals extremely difficult and were thus despised by them. Nobody was sorry when they sold the castle and left.

It is still lived in but sadly maintaining it is no longer viable. Hopefully whoever purchases it will restore and maintain it. It is a landmark in the village centre 🥰
