It’s definitely changed over the last 15years. When I first arrived I’d hold onto my rubbish waiting to find a bin, then my Chinese colleague or friend would say just throw it on the ground, it’s someone’s job to pick it up. Today, in central Shanghai particularly, the streets are super clean and hosed down daily and old aunties or uncles picking up any rubbish.

I see people littering here all the time, it’s just seems cleaner because they have so many cleaners on the street tidying up. Just today in Beijing, multiple women putting their old bottles inside a bush when there is a bin right next to them, so annoying
