1) days are long but the years are short, 2) you can do anything for three months 3) you’re not bad at it…you’re new at it.

Facebook groups has been surprisingly helpful! Previous students post their study guides and it helps reframe how you think about the lectures. Quizlet is great for practice exams. Watch the lecture back on 2x speed after you’ve done your notes.

It’s a marathon, not a sprint! Don’t burn yourself out early on. Take breaks when they come!

Pomodoro timers for study so you don’t burn out, Anki flash cards, YouTube: khan academy, ninja nerd, medicosis perfectionalis, university of Kentucky anesthesia program. Podcasts: core anesthesia (app), ACCRAC. Find out what kind of learner you are. Listen to lectures when doing mindless things (cleaning, walking, working out) I swear you unconsciously retain info that way. Take a daily walk.

Preview slides, load them to notability, record lecture, review summary. If auditory, upload lectures to NotebookLM and make a podcast.

Always remember….the patient is the reason you’re here. Put them first, every single time. Learn from everyone!!! Every CRNA, CAA, anesthesiologist, surgeon, nurse, and patient has something to teach you. Stay humble. The day you think you know it all is the day you stop growing. Mastery in anesthesia isn’t about having all the answers… it’s about never stopping the pursuit of them. Proud of you for asking❤️Best luck to you…you got this!

I have so many recs. Top 3. 1) take care of yourself mentally and physically to the best of your ability outside of CRNA school. 2) self study and study by yourself BEFORE joining in a study group. 3) idk what part of the US you’re in but your clinical experiences as a black student will likely be different than your non black counterparts. Reach out if you have other questions

Get in a habit of going to bed early and getting up early during didactic. Your brain needs sleep to process new information and cement it in your mind- don’t skimp on it. Eat well. Keep up an exercise routine. All things that will help keep your brain fresh and adaptable for new knowledge. Congrats!

My most obnoxious + underrated piece of advice is read the textbooks. So many people will argue that they can get away with slides and apex and the truth is it’s painfully obvious when they hit clinical and when it’s time to study for the see/boards. Don’t get stuck in them tho- move on to flash cards and practice questions don’t keep re-reading. Also read the book “make it stick” you’ll learn great study habits!!

Evidenced based study techniques, start everyday with a plan to tackle the content and go to bed on time. That’s it for didactic!

Anki is great if you don’t have a solid foundation of studying. There is a learning curve but it’s very valuable (especially if you have a friend to help/have a system down like I figured out). You’re gonna be stressed, but give yourself grace. Have a support system, therapist, etc. Make time

AP., SRNA🫀 :
1. You’ll learn to be selfish with your time and that’s perfectly fine.
2. Integrate all your devices if possible to access your material on the go (iPad, MacBook, & iPhone)
3. Being tired is part of the process.
4. Give yourself some grace.
