Yessssss I do this with my freelance fees! I price by project but always figure out my fees on a benchmark hourly rate and generally it gives me super specific numbers. Definitely reduces negotations significantly (I didn't always do this, and always got pushback).

If you have your own business or are freelancing, up your rates by 3-5% every year. So if you're currently €35 an hour, next year you charge €36.50. One, keeps up with rising costs without you having to suddenly dramatically raise your prices. Never had a client so much as blink at a 5% increase. Two, I experienced what this paper says, that people don't try to haggle when your rates seem precise.

My old man did this for meeting times when he wanted people to show up on time lol. Instead of 10am it would be 9:57am. Instead of people wandering in plus or minus five to ten minutes of a nominal 10 start everyone was there ready to go on the dot looking slightly concerned 😂

But maybe don’t do this with items for sale on social media as they’ll just assume you’re an overseas seller these days instead. I avoid items with weird numbers for this reason
